Notes - Son of the late Nehemiah and Lenor Askew Norman, he was retired from Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth, NC, in 1983, after 43 years of service. He was survived by his wife of 41 years, Clara Foster Norman; three step-sons, James Anthony Respess (Connie), Michael Major Respess (Debbie) and Bruce Grady Respess (Cheryl); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Major Respess, II, and by three sisters and three brothers. He was a member of Poplar Chapel Church of Christ in Jamesville, NC. His funeral was held on February 12, 2007, with Paul Praschnik officiating.
