[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”What is the purpose of the East Carolina Roots Forum?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Hopefully, this forum, which is open to registration for anyone researching eastern North Carolina ancestry or with a special interest in learning more about it, can be helpful to individuals hoping to connect with other researchers studying their lines of interest.

Additionally, it can be a great place to sort out information for those big, confusing families where there are several men (or women) with the exact same name living contemporaneously in a close proximity to one another. (Nasby MILLS, anyone?) [/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Do I have to be a member of the site to use the forum?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Anyone can see the forum, but only members can post to it. It’s easy to join, though, and it’s completely free. [/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”How do I become a member?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]It’s easy to become a member of the East Carolina Roots Community.

[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Is there any way for me to find out when new posts or replies have been added without having to come back and check the site?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Yes. First of all, if you comment on a post, or if you post something, you have the option of clicking a checkbox at the bottom of the post editing window that will let you subscribe to notifications if someone responds to just that post.

You can also subscribe to individual forums or posts that interest you by clicking on the red Subscribe link at the bottom of a forum or a post.

Click the red Subscribe to this forum or post link to get email notifications when new content is posted.

[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”How to I get my picture on my forum profile?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]When you first join the site, your Profile page will be pretty bare. No pictures, no information. You can leave it like that if you want to, but it might be helpful (and a whole lot more fun) if you go ahead and at least upload some kind of profile picture and fill out some of the available areas.

To easily access your profile, just click on the Profile link in the Forum menu.

Click on the Subscriptions button to change your notification settings.

Then, it will pull up a page like the image below.

Just click on that little gear, and then “Edit Profile.” From there, you’ll see all kinds of fields that you can fill out to make your Profile more informative for other members of the East Carolina Roots family.

You can visit my profile to see how a finished profile page looks.
