The following is a transcription of the will of Nathaniel Giles, my sixth-great-grandfather, from Johnston County, North Carolina.
In the name of God Amen I Nathaniel Giles of Johnston County in the State of North Carolina being in tolerable health and of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. That is to say
First I give devise and bequeath unto my son William Giles The Land and plantation whereon I live containing One hundred acres of Land and a Tract of Land joining the said Land whereon I live lying on the south side of Middle Creek containing One Hundred and five Acres, being the same which I bought of my son John Giles as appears by a deed from him to me baring date the sixth day of January One Thousand seven hundred and Eighty Two. with all and singular their appurtenances to him his heirs and Assigns forever
Secondly I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Charity Giles all my household furniture of every kind my plantation Tools and all my stock of Horses, Hogs, Cattle sheep and fowls to her and her heirs for ever.
I also lend to my beloved Wife the plantation whereon I live with the priviledge to making use of what Timber may be necessary for the support and repairs of the houses fences and other necessary uses during her natural life after which it is to enure to my son William as above mentioned.
Thirdly it is my Will and desire that my land on Sassareser? containing three hundred and Twenty Acres be sold by my Executors at public sale at Twelve months credit and the money arising from such sale after collected to be equally divided among all my children
Lastly I do hereby nominate Ordain Constitute and appoint my beloved Wife Charity Giles and my son John Giles my Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament. Revoking all other or former Wills by me made.
