East Carolina Roots Family Trees Update

ECR Family Trees

The East Carolina Roots Family Trees section of the site uses genealogy database software and it is sorely in need of some updates. To be honest, I’m not sure at this point (at least not for the foreseeable future) that I’m going to bother with it.

While there are a few dozen users who registered for the Trees database over the 14 years this site has existed, there have only ever been four trees uploaded to it and one of those is mine! If it were a highly trafficked area of the site, it might be different. But as it is, I doubt anyone will miss it.

I would prefer to use any time I have available to spend on this site adding to searchable content and offering transcriptions, and improved discussion forum, and more.

For the three other individuals who have family trees in the database, please contact me if you would like me to send you the gedcom for your tree.

If you would like to access the East Carolina Roots family tree, that is also sorely in need of some cleanup. I do have a tree by that name on Ancestry.com. My username there is eastcarolinaroots, but before I attempt to repost that tree to this site, I want to filter out a lot of families from other states that turned out to not have anything to do with eastern NC families.

If there are any other features or content you would like to see added, please leave it in the comments below!

I am so sorry. I was trying to send money for the site, and it went as a request for $$ from you – not what I intended.

A couple of years ago I removed all advertising on this site from Google Adsense, as well as any sort of tracking scripts from Facebook or Google or any other parties. I invited visitors to chip in a few dollars to help offset the cost of hosting and maintaining the site. Many folks did step up and have offered to make donations, but now I own the server that the site is on and hosting is no longer an issue. BUT if you do feel helped out by the material here, please consider donating a few dollars to one of my absolute favorite genealogical resources, the Kellenberger Room at the New Bern Library.

Please send a check payable to New Bern Craven Co. Public Library with Kellenberger Room in the memo line to:
